Campaign notes and wiki

Write your notes. Get a campaign wiki.

Runekeeper is a note-taking app for D&D and every other tabletop RPG. Write the recap the way you always do: every NPC, place and item you name becomes a link, and every note lists who mentions it. No brackets, no tags, no wiki to tend.

While you writeSession 7 — The Drowned Chapel

We rowed out to the chapel at dusk. Brother Caddoc refused to step onto the stones. Under the altar: a fragment of the Ashen Crown.

What you get

A wiki without the wiki work.

Names link themselves

The title of every note, and each of its aliases, links wherever it appears, as a whole word. Rename a note and every mention follows.

Backlinks with the sentence

Open a note and read every line that mentions it, back to session one. Forgotten threads find their way back.

Private notes and secrets

Keep a note to yourself, or add a secret to a party note for the DMs, chosen players or the whole party, and let it show from a session you pick.

Written together

Everyone you invite can add and edit party notes. Players keep their own journal beside the shared one.

Anything in two keystrokes

Search reads everything you wrote, a link shows the gist when you hover it, and [[ links or creates a note on the spot.

The graph and the rules

See the whole campaign as a web of people, places and loot, and look up spells, monsters and conditions from the open D&D rules beside your notes.

How it works

Three steps to a wiki you never have to file.

  1. Create the campaign

Give it a name and invite the party with a link. Players join for free.

  2. Write what happened

A recap, an NPC, a tavern. While you type, the names that will link are underlined.

  3. Read it back

Every page now knows who mentions it. Next session, open a name and see everything the party learned about it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to take notes for D&D?
Write plain sentences right after the session, while it’s fresh, and let the names do the filing. In Runekeeper a recap is enough: every person, place and item in it links to its own note, so the wiki grows as you write.
Is it a campaign wiki or a notes app?
Both. You write notes as in any notes app; the links, backlinks and graph a wiki needs follow from the names you use.
Can players see my DM notes?
No. A private note is yours alone: not in search, previews or links for anyone else. A secret in a party note goes only to the people you choose.
Does it work for Pathfinder and other systems?
Yes. Notes, sessions and the inventory work for any tabletop RPG, and categories and currencies are yours to name. Only the rules reference is D&D.
Can I take notes on my phone?
Yes, in the browser and in the app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Players read the recap on their phones; you write on whatever is at hand.
Is it free?
Yes. Every word of your campaign is free for the whole table, with unlimited campaigns, notes and players. Only images and the AI run on an Ohhi plan.
